Rooted in Rest, MH Awareness Month

ree

Rooted in Rest was an intimate evening of stillness, breath, and gentle release. Eight of us came together to slow down, reconnect with our bodies, and honor the full range of our emotions. In this space, we didn’t bypass discomfort, we made room for it, sat with it. Through grounding yin poses and a nurturing, trauma-informed approach, we explored what it means to be held, not fixed.

This gathering reminded us that rest is not just passive, it's an act of courage. Thank you to those who showed up fully, just as you were. You were not alone.

Yin Yoga invites us to slow down and turn inward. This practice holds poses for several minutes at a time, targeting the deep connective tissues of the body while offering space for emotional release and nervous system repair. At Wnderwell, our Yin classes are trauma-informed, culturally rooted, and shaped by the belief that stillness can be just as powerful as movement. It’s not about flexibility, it’s about honesty, presence, and rest.

I can’t recommend this class enough. I’m normally a gym gal who loves lifting weights, but have been looking for something else to help diversify, and possibly implement into my routine. Luckily this class appeared nearby, so I took the intro to yoga class, and had a truly great experience. The instructor Jeffy, is warm and welcoming, creating a really nice and fun laid-back atmosphere. They did a great job in guiding us gently through a variation of movements and breath work. These movements were challenging at times, yet funny enough I feel as if those were the movements that ended up relaxing me the most. At the end of the class I definitely felt a lot less tension and stiffness in my body, and so much more awake. I left the class feeling accomplished and a lot less achy. I will definitely be incorporating this Friday class into my routine!
